What kind of receipts can I scan?
You can scan a detailed till receipt of any purchase made at any shop in the UK. A receipt is only valid if it’s a purchase that you or another member of your household has made. We can only accept receipts for personal expenses. Any receipts for business or commercial purposes don’t qualify for our receipt scanning program.
Receipts MUST be shown in full and include:
- the merchant's details (name, address, VAT number)
- date and time of purchase
- all purchase prices (for particular items)
- total amount paid
Receipts MUST also:
- be a regular, till receipt from a brick and mortar shop
- be scanned within 7 days of the purchase date
We will NOT ACCEPT:
- Card payment confirmations
- Online receipts which have not been purchased within ZIPZERO
- Handwritten receipts
- Invoices/A4 receipts
- Receipts in foreign currency
- Parking payment confirmations
- Order or delivery confirmations
- Currency exchange receipts
- Cash transfer receipts (e.g. PayPoint)
Why was my receipt cancelled?
There might have been a few reasons for that. The most common cause of canceled scans are incorrect documents (usually, a card payment confirmation). We’re happy to see you scan regular till receipts for any purchase you make but there are certain types of documents we will not accept so please don’t scan:
- Card payment confirmations
- Online receipts which have not been purchased within ZIPZERO
- Handwritten receipts
- Invoices/A4 receipts
- Receipts in foreign currency
- Parking payment confirmations
- Order or delivery confirmations
- Currency exchange receipts
- Cash transfer receipts (e.g. PayPoint)
Remember, a receipt has to include the following to be accepted:
- Merchant’s details (name, address, VAT number)
- Data and time of purchase
- List of items/services bought (with their particular prices)
- Total price
If you’re sure that your receipt was correct and canceled by mistake, please sent us a photo of it to contact@zipzero.com.
Why can’t I scan my receipt?
It’s probably not a regular till receipt.
Remember, a receipt has to include the following details to be accepted:
- Merchant’s details (name, address, VAT number)
- Date and time of purchase
- List of items/services bought (with their particular prices)
- Total price
This problem usually occurs when you try to scan card payment confirmation, as these do not include the information listed above.
If you’re sure all of the required information is included on the receipt, but the App does not want to scan it, make sure your scans are of decent quality, snapped with good light and angle. If the problem continues, please sent us a photo of it to contact@zipzero.com.
What do I need to scan receipts?
You need a smartphone with iOS 10.0 (and above) or Android 5.0 (and above). You can scan receipts by using your phone camera directly within the ZIPZERO app.
Can I wait to scan all my receipts at the end of the month?
We recommend scanning receipts as close to the purchase date as possible - we offer a maximum of 7 days from the date of purchase for successful scanning into the app.
What if I accidentally scan the same receipt twice?
The ZIPZERO app runs sophisticated receipt recognition technology that doesn’t allow for the same receipt to be scanned twice. If you scan a receipt twice, the app will only accept the first scan into the system and will retrospectively cancel any that are mistakenly accepted.
Our two-day receipt verification process is meant to weed out any potential misuse or fraud of our system. If we notice any unusual behavior in the app, such as consistent multiple scans of the same receipt by one or multiple individuals, we will look closer at the users’ accounts and potentially cancel them based on a violation of our Terms.
Can I scan online receipts?
At the moment we only accept regular, till receipts from brick and mortar shops. Online receipts can’t be scanned with ZIPZERO. However, if you shop Online within the app, please make sure to Forward the email from the retailer with the order confirmation to your personal ZIPZERO email (this is listed in the app). This is a crucial step as otherwise, your pending units will not change their status to available.
Can I scan a handwritten receipt?
No. The ZIPZERO system will not be able to read the information from it.

Can I scan foreign receipts?
No. Only receipts for purchases made from UK-based retailers are accepted.

I tried to scan an A4 receipt, but it doesn’t work, why?
No. We’re happy to see you scan regular, till receipts for any purchase you make but there are certain types of documents we will not accept so please don’t scan:
- Card payment confirmations
- Receipts in foreign currency
- Invoices (usually called A4 receipt by users)
- Parking payment confirmations
- Order or delivery confirmation
- Online receipts
The scans of these documents may be initially accepted by the system, but the funds obtained from them will be canceled within seven days.

The receipt I need to scan is too long to fit on the scanning screen, what do I do?
Our unique receipt scanning technology allows users to take multiple pictures of long receipts.
- Open your app and push + ADD RECEIPTbutton
- Place your receipt on a flat surface and in good light
- Make sure all the information on the receipt are visible
- Take the first photo then press the +button
- Line up where you finished taking the last picture and snap again
- Repeat this as many times as necessary.
Is there a limit to how many receipts I can scan?
You can scan as many receipts as you like. There’s no set limit!
Please keep in mind, however, that the current cap on the cash you can earn towards your bills each month is set at £50 so the total value of your scanned receipts should not exceed £5,000 per month.
You may, of course, continue scanning receipts over this limit in order to keep all your receipts in one place but you will not get more than £50 towards your bills.
What if I scan a receipt for a purchase someone else made?
ZIPZERO’s rewards system is personalised. Therefore, you may not scan receipts for purchases made by someone outside of your household as it would be a violation of our Terms of Service and may force us to void your receipt and possibly cancel your account.
Please make note that the technology behind ZIPZERO analyses the receipts scanned into our system carefully and our two-day receipt verification process weeds out any potential misuse or fraud of our system.

Can I scan a receipt for a purchase made by someone else in my household?
Yes. Although ZIPZERO’s rewards system is a personalised tool aimed at helping you cover the bills each month, we do allow households to work together to earn funds towards bill payment.
However, if each user in your household manages their own account, then you can maximise the potential for earning rewards (in the form of bill payment) for your scanned receipts.
Can I scan a receipt from a cinema?
In some cases, the receipts for your cinema tickets do not include enough data for us to process them. Make sure that you receive a regular, till receipt including the merchant’s details, date and time of purchase, a list of items bought with their particular prices and a total price.

Can I scan a parking ticket?
No, parking tickets are on a list of certain types of documents we will not accept. Other documents that can’t be scanned with ZIPZERO are:
- Card payment confirmations
- Receipts in foreign currency
- Invoices (usually called A4 receipt by users)
- Order or delivery confirmations
- Online receipts

Can I scan my bus/train tickets?
You can’t scan bus or train tickets, but while buying them, you can ask for a receipt that can be scanned with ZIPZERO.
Can I scan a receipt from a currency exchange office?
No. The receipts from currency exchange offices are not allowed by ZIPZERO as their values do not represent the actual price (commission) but include the value of the currency being exchanged. This could bias our system and can’t be allowed.
Can I scan receipts from PayPoint?
No. The receipts from PayPoint are not allowed by ZIPZERO as their values do not represent the actual price (commission) of service but include the value of money being transferred. This could bias our system and can’t be allowed.

How much and how do you cash out please

The minimum to put towards your bills is £5 and you can view all the information here
This help section has become sooo complicated, i have a problem with a receipt that wont scan and you have taken the very simple message box away what do i do please?
